SwipeSimple | A Series Quick Reference Guide

Overview

A quick reference guide for using the PAX A920 and PAX A80 terminal with SwipeSimple, including setup, transactions, refunds, batching, and tip adjustments.

Power up the terminal
  1. Facing the terminal's screen, look for the power symbol on the right side of the terminal. This is the power button for the terminal.
  2. Push the Power button and hold for 2 to 4 seconds.
  3. The PAX startup screen will appear. Wait for the boot to complete.
  4. On successful startup, the Android home screen will appear.
Connect to WiFi
  1. From the PAX A920 terminal home screen, select the Settings icon.
  2. You will be prompted for a password. Depending on the device firmware version, enter either 9876, pax9876, or pax9876@@ and select OK.
  3. Select Wi-Fi settings.
  4. Select an available Wi-Fi network you have access to.
  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password and select CONNECT.
  6. Upon successful authentication, the terminal will be connected to the Wi-Fi network.
Select & run the BroadPOS payment application
  1. On the terminal device's home screen, select the BroadPOS payment application. Depending on a merchant's backend processor, this will be labeled as Omaha, TSYS Sierra, Vantiv, or RapidConnect.
  2. Once selected, you will be taken to the BroadPOS home screen.
  3. Tap the circle icon at the bottom of the screen to enable the BroadPOS payment application to run in the background.
Logging into SwipeSimple the first time
  1. On the terminal device home screen, select the SwipeSimple icon to be taken to the login screen.
  2. Enter the email address associated with your SwipeSimple merchant account and your password (you may have a temporary password in your SwipeSimple Welcome Email).
  3. If this is your first time logging into SwipeSimple, you will be prompted to set a new password. After selecting a permanent password, you will be redirected to the New Charge screen.
Run a sale transaction for an item
  1. After logging into the SwipeSimple application, you will see the New Charge screen.
  2. Adding items to your cart:
    1. To add a Quick Item, select the Quick Item tab above the keypad and enter a dollar amount (select the plus (+) button on the bottom left to add additional Quick Items).
    2. To add a saved item from your Item Catalog, select the Items tab and choose item(s) from your list.
    3. Select the Cart tab to review or modify items in your cart.
  3. Select the Checkout button.
  4. Select Card or Cash as the method of payment.
  5. When selecting Card: Tap, dip, or swipe the card on the PAX A920 hardware terminal. The app will show a PROCESSING screen. Upon successful charge, the user is prompted to REMOVE CARD, and an Approval screen appears with options to print/email/text a receipt or view transaction details.
  6. When selecting Cash: Select a Tendered Amount. The app will show a PROCESSING screen. Next, a Change Due screen appears with options to print/email/text a receipt or view transaction details.
Void a sale transaction
  1. In the SwipeSimple app, select the side menu button from the upper left corner.
  2. Select Transaction History.
  3. Select the sale transaction to be voided.
  4. Select Void.
  5. Confirm by tapping Void.
Refund a sale transaction
Note: The card must be present or card details available to key for refunds.
  1. In the SwipeSimple app, select the side menu button from the upper left corner and select Transaction History.
  2. Tap the transaction you would like to refund.
  3. Tap Refund.
  4. Select the amount you would like to refund.
  5. Tap Confirm.
  6. Insert the card used in the original transaction or key in the card details.
Steps to ensure Auto Batching occurs
  1. In the SwipeSimple app, select the side menu button from the upper left corner.
  2. Select Current Batch.
  3. Select Close Batch (top right) to close the batch.
  4. Depending on your settings selection, the terminal will print out the batch report.
Manually batching
  1. In the SwipeSimple app, select the side menu button from the upper left corner.
  2. Select Current Batch.
  3. Select Close Batch (top right) to close the batch.
  4. Depending on your settings selection, the terminal will print out the batch report.
Post-auth tip adjust
  1. In the SwipeSimple app, select the side menu button from the upper left corner.
  2. Select Current Batch.
  3. Tap the transaction that you wish to add the tip to.
  4. Add tip amount to the TIP field.
  5. Select SAVE & CLOSE to exit or SAVE & NEXT to move to the next transaction in the batch.
