SwipeSimple Card Reader Setup Guide

 

Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting a SwipeSimple card reader to a compatible phone or tablet. Follow these steps to pair your device and begin processing payments successfully.

Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have the following:

  • A SwipeSimple card reader (fully charged for at least 2 hours)
  • The SwipeSimple app installed from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
  • A phone or tablet with Bluetooth enabled
  • Valid SwipeSimple account credentials

 

Initial Setup and Connection

  1. Download the SwipeSimple app
    Install SwipeSimple from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Enable Bluetooth
    Turn on Bluetooth in your mobile device settings.

  3. Power on the card reader
    Press and hold the power button until:

    • B250: Blue light flashes

    • B350: Blue light flashes with a solid red light

  4. Open SwipeSimple and start a transaction

    • Open the SwipeSimple app

    • Enter an amount and tap Checkout

    • When prompted to use a reader, select Yes

  5. Grant permissions
    Allow all requested permissions. SwipeSimple requires these to locate and connect to the reader.

  6. Automatic pairing
    SwipeSimple will automatically search for and pair with nearby readers.

  7. Reader ready
    When the screen displays “Tap, Dip, or Swipe” along with the reader image, the reader is connected and ready for use.

 

General Troubleshooting

  • SwipeSimple will check for disabled Bluetooth or missing permissions and guide you to correct them.

  • Bluetooth readers can connect to only one device at a time.
    If the reader is paired to another device:

    • Go to your device’s Bluetooth settings

    • Select the reader and choose Forget This Device or Unpair

    • Retry pairing in SwipeSimple

If the reader still does not connect, follow the platform-specific steps below.

iOS Troubleshooting Steps
  1. Ensure the reader is powered on and fully charged
  2. Confirm the reader is not paired in iOS Bluetooth settings
  3. Open SwipeSimple > Settings > Device Pairing
  4. Toggle Use Bluetooth Reader to On
  5. Verify the reader appears in the available readers list
  6. Select the reader to pair
Verify Permissions
  1. Open iOS Settings
  2. Select SwipeSimple
  3. Ensure the following are enabled:
    • Bluetooth
    • Microphone
    • Local Network
If the reader still does not appear during a transaction, proceed to the Factory Reset section.
Android Troubleshooting Steps
  1. Ensure the reader is powered on and fully charged
  2. Confirm the reader is not paired in Android Bluetooth settings
  3. Open SwipeSimple > Settings > Device Pairing
  4. Toggle Use Bluetooth Reader to On
  5. Verify the reader appears in the available readers list
  6. Select the reader to pair
Verify Permissions
  1. Open Device Settings
  2. Go to Apps > SwipeSimple
  3. Select Permissions
  4. Set any disallowed permissions to Allowed
Enable Location Services (Required on Android)
  1. Open Device Settings > Location
  2. Toggle Location ON
  3. If already on, toggle OFF, then back ON
If the reader still does not appear, proceed to the Factory Reset steps below.

Card Reader Factory Reset

B200 or B250 Readers

  1. Insert a paperclip into the small round reset hole next to the charging port

  2. Press and hold for 15–20 seconds

    • The lights should turn off during this process

  3. Release the button

  4. The lights will flash multiple colors, then return to standby mode

The reader is now reset.


B350 Reader

  1. Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds

  2. Release the button

  3. The lights will flash multiple colors, then return to standby mode

The reader is now reset.
