Tap to Pay – User Guide

 

Overview

Tap to Pay on Mobile allows eligible merchants to accept contactless payments directly through the ValorPay Mobile App using a supported iOS or Android mobile device—without a separate card reader. 

Merchants can then accept supported contactless payment methods, including:

  • Contactless cards
  • Mobile wallets
  • NFC-enabled payment devices

Once Tap to Pay is enabled for an ISO, authorized users can activate the feature for eligible merchants through Valor Portal. After activation, the merchant receives an automated starter email with instructions for completing setup and processing Tap to Pay transactions.

Important: Tap to Pay must be enabled for the ISO account before it can be activated for an eligible merchant.
Supported Processors

Tap to Pay is available for eligible merchants boarded with supported processors, including:

  • TSYS
  • Elavon

Prerequisites

Before enabling or using Tap to Pay, verify the following requirements.

ISO Requirements

  • Tap to Pay on Mobile is enabled for the ISO account.

  • The merchant is boarded under a supported processor.

Merchant Requirements

  • Merchant is eligible for Tap to Pay on Mobile.

  • At least one eligible Virtual Terminal EPI is available.

  • The appropriate MCC is selected when enabling Tap to Pay.

  • Merchant has valid ValorPay Mobile App login credentials.

Android NFC-enabled device running Android OS 12 or later
Android Tablets Not supported
Connectivity Stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection
Android Requirement: Android users must also install the Tap to Pay Ready application by Visa Inc. from the Google Play Store.
Application Requirements
  • ValorPay Mobile App version 3.1.1 must be installed.
  • NFC must be enabled on the mobile device.
  • A stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection is required.
  • A parameter download must be completed after Tap to Pay is enabled.
